With spring's arrival I decided to dust off my Vitamix and whip up a silky smooth smoothie - on a 20 degree day in early September in Melbourne it sure feels fitting. I often find myself following a pretty routine diet - the same veggies, the same protein, the same old green smoothie recipe yada yada.. so today I decided to veer off course and treat myself to this delicious maca cacao smoothie.
This recipe as with all of my recipes, was created with our health and wellbeing in mind - it'll fuel your energy, work to balance your hormones (thanks to maca powder), hydrate & nourish your skin (hello collagen and macadamias!), help retain moisture in your skin, eyes and joints (that's the hyaluronic acid in the collagen powder) - and, it'll likely keep you full as a morning and afternoon tea snack!
Add a scoop of protein powder to the mix and you'll have breakfast or lunch.
Serves 2
1 large frozen banana
2 medjool dates (leave out or halve if you prefer less sweet)
2 cups milk of choice
1/4 cup raw macadamias
1 tablespoon cacao powder
2 teaspoons unflavoured Marine Collagen with Hyaluronic Acid
1 teaspoon maca powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Pop all of the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. Then, put your feet up, and enjoy mindfully, for the good of your health!
